Many people make resolution on new years day, promising themselves(and sometimes god) that the next year of life will be different. We determine that habits are going to be changed and new patterns of behavior developed.

Resolution like these are highly commendable and can often serve as a stimulus to spiritual growth. But not always Sometimes i'm carried out too soon only are forgotten.

Samuel Johnson ,deeply committed Christian who lived in the 18th century, frequently wrote resolutions in his journals. Here is a typical entry:" I have correct no external habits, nor kept any of the resolution made in the beginning of the year, yet I hope still to be reformed, and not to lose my whole life in idle purposes".

It is good to engage now and then in self-examination.We should face up to the change that need to be made, and then make plans for how we're going to implement them.I realize that my devotional habit are weak and inconsistent , I'll resolve to spend some time daily in focused on fellowship with the god of my understanding my(hp).I'll ask the spirit to help me in this consistent practice through all of my tomorrow.

Agreed. Its easy to get caught up in the myriad of life and lose focus. My family developed this philosophy, "never make plans, plans are meant to be broken", which is more or less true. I've never been much of a person who makes new year resolutions, until very recent years. My resolutions may not always work out the way I intend, but I'll fulfill them eventually, as long as I keep at it and not give up. Strange how that works now that I'm learning to develop new habits...

Awesome post!

I hear you loud and clear.  As soon as I resolve to make a change in my life, something else comes along and the change is soon forgotten.  I think that's why the program works so well - one day at a time.  I can do almost anything for just one day.  And maybe, just maybe, I'll try it again tomorrow - in the meantime, I'll just worry about today.

Thanks for sharing.
