Hypocrite?
Posted On 01/25/2011 09:03:49

I've not done this for a bit, write something when I'm at a loose of words. It has always been one of my downfalls; not keeping my mouth shut.

Laugh if you must, even I chuckle when I think about it. there has been a lot on my mind of late.
Mainly about being a hypocrite. And that came about waiting to move/save as much as can be saved from an A.A. Hall. (we've been evicted)

The second part was being a parent when we say don't to our children, all the while being drunks.

And last, but not least, what scripture has to say
about it:

Mar 7:6 And He said to them, "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: 'THIS PEOPLE HONORS ME WITH THEIR LIPS, BUT THEIR HEART IS FAR AWAY FROM ME.

Mar 7:7 'BUT IN VAIN DO THEY WORSHIP ME, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE PRECEPTS OF MEN.'

Mar 7:8 "Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men."

Mar 7:9 He was also saying to them, "You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to keep your tradition.

Mar 7:10 "For Moses said, 'HONOR YOUR FATHER AND YOUR MOTHER'; and, 'HE WHO SPEAKS EVIL OF FATHER OR MOTHER, IS TO BE PUT TO DEATH';

Mar 7:11 but you say, 'If a man says to his father or his mother, whatever I have that would help you is Corban (that is to say, given to God),'

Mar 7:12 you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or his mother;

Mar 7:13

thus invalidating the word of God by your tradition which you have handed down; and you do many things such as that."(NASB)

How many times do we speak to New Comers in a meeting or our family members; do this and it will be OK, and we refuse to do the same thing?
How can we ask some one else to do something we ourselves are unwilling to do?

How can we be a perfect example of true sobriety/recovery and give the Newcomer an inkling of hope and freedom from our addictions, if we still walk in our old ways, even though we are dry.

I think Loise caught this when she wrote an article for the Grapevine: December 1944; "Bill's Wife Remembers when He and She and the First A. A.s were Very Young"

Are you an old timer who beets your own drum about recovery, while sharing, your experience, strength and hope, and yet unwilling to do the little things? You know, walk the talk!
I find, I fall far short in this  even though it is on my own mind.

Let me leave this little tid-bit:
"Practice love and service at work and at home and not just in meetings."

I'M BACK
Posted On 12/10/2009 11:28:13

I'M BACK ON-LINE, AFTER A TOTAL MESS WITH THIS INFERNAL MACHINE.

BLESSINGS ALL IN RECOVERY AND THOSE HEALEDVirgil

What's Going on?
Posted On 01/27/2009 00:07:04

Well, I'm not to sure about Blogs, but then it may be a good way to pass on info.

I've been wondering how to keep in touch with all my friends in recovery I've found on this site and the many others we subscribe to.

So I've determined that what we need is to share our e-mail addresses or IM with our friends.
That way when our favorite sites go down, we are able to still give the needed support. Or for that matter, receive the support we need at times.

Which if you are like me, it is all the time.
As I find my heart going out to certain ones  in recovery that the Lord of my life has laid on my heart. And don't think you are immune to this either. As God has His way even though we don't except it.

So for those who wish, especially my friends here on MyRecoverySpace and any other 12 Step site we belong to is my e-mail and IM: ok4me2you@yahoo.com, the same for my IM.
Feel free to connect if you are in recovery and willing to be supportive when we loose our wonderful recovery sites for any reason. Even when they are down for a short time, can put us in a spot of nervousness.

With all Blessings in recovery, may we all find the support we need here on the Internet.

Life
Posted On 09/22/2008 20:44:33

Life comes through God, but He gives us choices at the same time.

When I was young, I choose to do it myself. I needed no help.

Now that I have torn my life and those around me to pieces, I find that I need a power greater than I.

When I let go and cried out to God, He was there.

He reached down and turned this heart of stone to clay and started to mold it anew.

He gave me a desire to get sober and to be of service to my fellow man.

I still make mistakes, but today I can also make amends and enjoy life.

My addictions which alcohol was only one can be given to Him. I can walk in newness of spirit, and seek that which is right.

I can walk after my savior knowing that He is in control daily and moment by moment.

May all who seek His guidance find freedom from our addictions.
