"When one door closes another door will open".
So what do you do while your waiting in the corridor?!?!?

A past sponsor said to me that I had "better pull up a cushion and enjoy the scenery"!
That conversation took place over 10 years ago when I started my journey into Discovery & Recovery.

When the debris of my life is laying scattered before me and I am distracted by the fears of my future, I will stay stuck in my situation or "waiting time".
It's like sitting in a warm, comfortable bucket of manure!!!
And where is my patience with myself and others then?

To make my waiting time a purposeful one, God and I rediscover the tools of Peace and Serenity.
These tools are:

FORGIVENESS... How can I move on when I am bound to the grief and anger of past hurts, regrets and resentments of myself and others.

EXPECTATION... I CAN expect to have Gods help with me in this corridor. I am not alone.

COMMITTMENT... Because of my Willingness to become a better person, I committ to one day at a time.

I don't do this perfectly! But I don't do it alone!
God IS beside me reaching me and teaching me HIS purpose.
And as I say my thank you.....the door opens.

What do you do in this corridor, this waiting time?

Aahhhh.....     I'm back in the corridor, again.  Turning fear into faith makes the waiting worthwhile.   My experience and others' experiences give me the hope that I need to sustain my recovery and my focus.  When I get to that point of surrender, and can move on .... then the corridor becomes LIFE.   And when I quit thinking that I'm waiting ... THEN God shows me that there is a Plan better than I can imagine.  It seems to happen when I'm not looking for answers.  My job is to pay attention and not to run.  And I must remember that I too am not alone in the corridor;  God and my recovery network are with me, as long as I allow others in my life.

Great tools!

I add and use one more tool, to help while in that"Corridor" and thats Gratitude. It opens up a door of living not in the self, but living in the now, and of being outside of myself, hence allowing me to move out of the corridor and into a place of peace and serenity.

It took me a while to work this out or even imagine what the corridor is for me but surprise surprise I think I have been in one lately.  What did I do? Got down to working on whatever step I was working at the time.  Made sure I was using all the tools of the program effectively.  Asked my sponsor to set me a challenge.  And perhaps more importantly, had a look around to see if there was anyone else there who might need my help and/or encouragement. And of course prayed because in that space 'between' there is a lot of room for that.

I'm not saying that all those things are the right things to do - just what I do

It can get cold out in the hallway,

procrastination tends to do that.
