Had a bad problem with skunks the last month---our lawn barely survived! In 23 years at the same house and same yard we never had that problem before. I’m not a pest-control expert, but something tells me the reason we had the problem this year is because part of our lawn is the worst it’s been in 23 years. The city put in water and sewer a decade ago, tearing up the street and half our front yard. They replaced our beautiful grass with cheap crab-grass-kind-of-stuff that has multiplie... Read More

The first wonder occurred at the beginning where we give out coins on Friday up to 18 monthes. One of our members humbly took a 24 hour coin. One of our younger members chaired the speaker meeting and introduced his sponcer, who had travelled from a nearby state to share. The f... Read More
H.O.W.? Man, I enjoy Thursdays. Sometimes the simple gems I hear or am reminded of resonate so strongly in me. The acronym “HOW” falls into this category. Make It A Good Day? When I got up Wednesday morning, I had a choice to make. I choose to make it a good day. There is enough craziness going on in this world, the talk of economic collapse, and gosh help us, elections on both sides of the border. Here in Canada, as far as leadership goes, I don’t find any real good choice. In working with politicians for years to advocate causes, I learned one thing quickly. The only real certainty starting from the time they are confirmed as ele... Read More
The WISDOM As a part of each day, I start with the “Serenity Prayer” to get a focus for the day. This has become an ingrained daily habit, but as can happen, sometimes we don’t pay attention to things we do so frequently. Today, from Hazelden, I received a great reminder, and it was getting the right message at the right time. While the “Serenity Prayer” is a part of all 12 step meetings I’ve attended, it is applicable to all. God grant me the serenity to accept the thing... Read More
