I'm 27, in the military. I've tried the 12 steps, but I'm an atheist, have been since grade school, and can't get past the need for a higher power in the 12 steps. My drinking has recently began leading to worse habbits, and not sure why. Looking for idea's besides the 12 steps to quit

Just wanted to say HI and WELCOME. I know there are plenty of people in AA who agnostic or atheist who have recovered with the twelve steps. Some people use the AA program and the people in it as a higher power, because together they are doing what they could not on their own. I hope that you find what you need. My bottom was so bad that I was willing to given anything a try it was surely better than how I was living or feeling.
