I was well upon the road to recovery with 5 months under my belt. During this time I gained the strength and the insight to leave a tumultuous relationship of 5 years. Once I made the step and left, I relapsed. So, I've now started over and realize I need all the support I can get.

may we take time out this morning to have a moment of silence and prayer for those who courageously gave their lives so that we may be able to live ours today. for those who came home and dealt with the aftermath of war. for those who are still abroad and are unable to be with their loved ones on this day. and let us not forget those who lost their lives in their own personal battle with addiction. as we enjoy our holiday today let us keep in mind that some gave all for us to be able to have that previlege. may we keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.

I totaly relate to how you feel, because I did not embrace AA immediately in fact it took 10years before I surrendered to the rooms. I am a very private person and don't like to share myself w/others, but I found out that I had to in order to find freedom. In the begining I just showed up at mtgs, but in time I learned to share on a level at which I was comfortable. I still do most of my sharing one on one w/ sponsor, therapist, and support group. I went to mtgs until I wanted to go to mtgs now I love mtgs and share openly with others, because I know that my experience can help others.
