Recovery

Hi Big Ed, I just joined your group today. I have been clean and sober for 5 1/2 months now. At first I denied having a drug problem. To me I wasn't an addict, but once my sponser had me start doing my first step I realized my addiction was for 8 yrs. That really surprised me because to me an addict was a person that stole, clucked their stuff, and would do anything and everything for their addiction. But addiction can be very deceiving and can hit anyone. I had a relapse in Oct. 2006 and as a result I was sent back to jail for 90 days. Now I've been sober (at the end of the month it will be 6 mnths) and living a better life. I am an active member of my NA group in Baldwin Park, as well as the delegate of the group for the committee for the hispanic community of NA. I fell in love with the program and any chance I get I go to other meetings and conventions. I am glad I joined this group as well as this site. Thanks....Mxchica

Recovery

I joined this group to get recovery.  You mean I got to give, too?  But seriously, I am new to this group and online groups have recently allowed me to expand my horizons in recovery.  I go to alot of meetings, work steps, sponsor people, pray, do service work, take my sponsor's and others' suggestions and don't use, no matter what.  It's been working for me for over 13 yrs now, well enough that my first white keytag is still clean.
