What's up??
Hello, I just joined two days ago and am sober 38 days so far.  So I guess I'm the fresh fish.

Hi -

Im wondering if anyone has read the book "Came to believe"? I am working at getting a handle on the spirituality side of AA and there is some amazing and wonderful accounts in it.....

Thanx

Dennis

Hello
Hey everyone I am new to this site and what a wonderful site it is. I am currently 6 months sober. I am not in any program or treatment. I have been fighting this disease with sheer will alone. The thing that really sucks about is I feel very isolated. in order to stay on track I have been avoiding all drinking situations like parties and bars. Of course most if not all my friends are all about partying. So other then spending time with my fiance and family I feel very alone. Sorry to be so long winded i just want to explain where I am coming from.I am hoping to learn more about the 12 step program.I am also hoping to make some friends who understand my daily struggle. Thank you all for listening.

StartingOver -

When I did quit, there were times when the only thing helped me keep going was my friends at AA. There is nothing worse than a unhappy drunk that isn't drinking. I learned, took the things I could use and have finally found a little peace.

Like you said, you find yourself without the peers and environment you had before (which helps keep you sober). But, believe it or not, you aren't alone and don't have to be  - there are many of us out here, just like you. Not book thumpers, zealots or holy rollers. All we want is to stay sober and relatively happy - today.

 Dennis
