You may notice that some of our members have really cool home pages that they have customized by adding their own audio or video tracks (check out the home pages of napatti and Cheri_T - they present powerful messages as well as being artistic). This is fairly easy to do if you know what you are doing. Let me begin with a BIG WARNING, though. Ninety-nine point nine percent of our members don't need this, but for the .1 percent that do, please note that this is a site for RECOVERY and so you should be VERY SENSITIVE to not post a sound track or video that would lead someone down their addictive track. This means absolutely no videos or sound tracks that are anything close to pornography (as we have recovering porn and sex addicts here) or show self-injury or anything close (as there are those here recovering from that addiction as well). PLEASE BE SENSITIVE IN THIS. So far, everyone has been very sensitive and I appreciate it.

With that out of the way, let's get down to how it is done. The first step is to find the source code for embedding video or songs. There are numerous sites that have these codes, some better than others. If you do a search for "myspace codes" or something similar, you can find numerous sites that host embedded scripts. I can't vouch for many as I am still becoming familiar with these, but a couple of recommendations are:

For songs:   xanga.com, musicplaylist.us, radioblogclub.com

For videos:   youtube.com, myspace.com

Once you get the codes from these sites, then you log in to your account on this site. Then select "MY ACCOUNT" in the upper right menu, then select "Settings" on the menu below the main menu and then "Profile Settings". Then on the page for Profile Settings you should see a box for Movies and one for Music. Most people put text to describe their favorite movies or music. That is fine. You can put the text and the embedded code for the video or song as well, or just one of the other. That is all there is to it.

One more item, though. Please be sure that you do not post any illegally obtained copyrighted material, as far as you can tell. That will allow this site to keep on staying here without getting sued!! Thank you!

I hate to be a bother again.  When you get a chance, I know it's the holidays.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I've tried to spice up the page.  First, you know the login date problem.  2.  When I change the theme colors, it never sticks, it changes back. 3.  I can upload photos into my gallery, but I can't change my profile pic.  I find a photo and upload it, but it won't change.

What am I doing wrong??????

I feel kinda at home here, sharing and helping. I want a pretty page:)):)))

Thanks,  Tina

Outta curiousity, do the shockwave embeds have to come from those sites you've listed?

Also, any chance we'll be able to embed videos in our blogs? Would be spiffy if we could!

When I added music, my page margins changed, and the left side is unreadable.  I've noticed the same problem on other pages.

Solution?
