Dear Everybody:

by the grace of God, I'm 34 days abstinent from compulsive overeating in Overeaters Anonymous.  I follow a food plan given to me by my sponsor, and I abstain from sugar, flour and wheat as well as preservatives.

Sometimes it's tough, as I have an anxiety disorder as well and mood shifts, too.

I'm keeping a written list of all the changes for the better that are happening to my body these last 34 days, including losing the gingivitis.

I need to lose about 150 pounds.  I only weigh myself once a month and I am to weigh myself on January 15.  Hopefully the weight has gone down.

But it is about so much more than weight.  It's about me learning to love myself and have a proper relationship to my Higher Power, wherein He/She is the Boss and I do whatever the Plan is for my life as given to be by my Higher Power.

Feel free to respond at any point . . . And God/Goddess Bless!

In Recovery,

Julie329

Way to go Julie - that is an awesome milestone.  You are so right about it not being about the food.  It is finding yourself, accepting yourself and loving yourself!  I am on that road right now!  Recovery is hard work:(

That is really great Julie :) Those beginning days are tough and having so much wisdom and drive is a wonderful thing--especially that you recognize that it's not about the eating--that that is a symptom. Eating disorders, like substance addicitons, are sneaky like that eh? Anyway--that is some awesome work you're doing <3
