Hello

I am new here to this site and am just checking it out.  I saw my psyche nurse who wants me to get involved in a local ACOA group.  I could not find one so thought I would find something connected to the 12-step program and found this site.

I am not sure if it is the place for me but figure it is a good place to start.

Any suggestions on how to use this site would be helpful.  Thanks Ali

Look in the "groups" section and join one that matches what your looking for.  Also communicate with those who are members.  Many people here with so many different problems so there are many with the same as yours.  Just have to seek them out.

BEST WISHES,

JEFF

As Jeff said, There are many here that can offer their insight and support. Browse around and get to know people. I hope you come to find this place as one to get a bit of peace and sanity in a fast moving, crazy world...

Welcome.....glad you're here....this is where you're supposed to be as things don't happen by chance and this is your site, for now or how long....like "for a reason, a season, or a lifetime...."  I did the ACOA thing for 9 months and it was a blessing, but that too fell into place...when my dad died, I had worked through so much more stuff because of that group...maybe this group will lead to that, or maybe, as the movie goes, "this might be as good as it gets....."

peace,

Ken

I have also been looking for a ACOA group, but to no avail.  I have started
reading some self help books including AA's 12 & 12.  Works for me until I
find a group.  I also overeat.  I'm a mess, but better than I use to be, but
have not gotten to where I want to be.  Maybe never, but have decided to
enjoy the trip wherever it takes me.  I believe sharing, reading, praying

can only take me to a better out look and better thought life.

In HIS Care

this feels right to be in a group searching for someone, something to get them connected to the ACOA and 12 steps. I was happy to find this site on the 12step.org site. I have a blog on addictions and have been studying the topic for years but never really got involved in groups. tried one or two but felt the people there to be stuck or addicted to the group rather than working the steps and making things happen with the principles.. hope to make new friends here. if there is any addicition i have it's to eating when i feel sad or out of control and mainly sugary sweet things. my name is Barbara, I am in southern az.
