Sandy, dusty, hot- and a good sized, two story shed to be
built. Several trips to the site, a lot of diagrams, lists,
materials and tools to be assembled. Then people.
Early in sobriety it would have been a tangle -difficult to
separate feelings from personalities- who's in charge- who
does what job-whogets the credit-( control, control, control!)
It took a whole week to complete, a great deal of flexibility,
patience and persistance. This drunk stood by at the ready,
assisting & supporting.
The person filling in around the edges-pass the tools, fetch
the square, cut boards, measure, climb, hammer, - you get
the picture.
If H.P. hadn't been the primary, if thousands of meetings
hadn't been attended- if step work wasn't completed to the'
best of ability' this could have been a fiasco.
Miracles and dreams happen when we do the footwork. I
saw it unravel seamlessly with laughter.
Two recovering drunks in amongst a fleet of friends and
family-all who were on vacation, had their own agenda's and
various amounts of interest in assisting. Phew!
Yet there is the shed- windows, doors, roof complete-
Grand children helped- and now have the upper level as a
secret fort or castle, ship-
Testament to possibilities- so grateful we were a 'part of',
instead of 'a part from' and my husband and I came away
from it more than satisfied! Blessings, Nia
