I decided to post my first blog.  I would love if everyone could share their first blog.  I think the sharing will be insightful for all of us.

60 Days sober

Posted On: 11/05/2007 16:12:35

...beginners meeting tonight.  I wonder at where I was a short time ago.  I have had no problem going with out alcohol this long.  It was always"I'll quit for a bit" or "I need to detox"  Never for life, never did I admit the truth, that I was sick. I have no control over alcohol.  I just knew one day. It was like I was about to step off a curb and a semi was coming.  Close miss.  You know?  Like, this is it girl.  You can go no further with this lie.  You are at the end of the road.

So here I am. Praying every day that I won't break... so grateful for even this very moment, I get tearful.

Greetings

Hello,

i'm
an addict nick-named aNiMaL and i just want to say hello. *You gotta be
tough to be named after a Muppet!* i once went to a meeting of 12 guys
and 4 of us were named Kevin, so i'm okay with using my nick-name. i
wouldn't be surprised if more people locally knew me by my nick-name
anyway...

Don't let my Happy Noodle Boy icon put you off too much ... that's probably the least obnoxious thing about me.

i've just joined this community and i'm pretty much a web novice, so please bear with me.

i'm
coming up on 7 years ... this makes me old enough for 2nd grade in most
school districts, so i don't have a big head about it.
It's
my experience that just because i'm old enough for something doesn't
necessarily mean i'm ready for it ... i first came to the rooms in
1991, so if you do the math, you might see i've made a mistake or
fifty. "It takes what it takes." i wouldn't trade any of my mistakes
for anything, as "those who forget the mistakes of the past are doomed
to repeat them." i've learned through bitter experience i can't live in
the past. Call me a book thumper, but what i have is only "a daily
reprieve" and i try not to think that yesterday's spiritual experience
will carry me through today.

There
are 3 legacies to recovery. Instead of using their noun form and
distancing myself from them as concepts to be considered, i choose to
use their verb (an english teacher once taught me that verbs are
"action words") form as actions to be taken, so i try to serve, unite,
and recover each day.

"To
look is on thing. To see what you look at is another. To understand
what you see is a third. To learn from what you understand is still
another. But to act on what you learn is all that really matters." ~M.

You have such awesome ideas!  I go back and read mine from time to time to remind me where I've been and to appreciate the hard work I've done to get to today.  I'll do mine as well!
