Good day yesterday! Went to 1st group counselling session with my wife where I got a lot of good advice. The therapist (Mr. Q),nailed my personality type in about 8/10ths of a second (evasive, control freak, lacking in decision-making skills, emotionally unavailable).Mr. Q practices something called transactional analysis (TA), which focuses on inter-personal relationships and I definitely suck at that. But even though it was our 1st group, and we havent finished reading the course book yet, much progress was made. She has also decided to let me stay on our property in our guest house. This has made me feel much better about life in general, and recovery in particular.I will still be staying at my buddies house once or twice a week to give her some space, but at least she can stand the concept of me being around. The main difference about recovery for me this time is that I am truly doing it for myself, not for anyone else.I am going to start going to AA again also. Our course book is called "Born To Win" by Muriel James and I recommend it highly to all.

Donovan -
A good start. JD hit one really important item up front. Recovery is paramount. For an alcoholic like me, all else came to nought as long as I allowed alcohol to be a part of my life. Today that is no longer an option for me...

Take care,
Dennis
