I sat across from the lake and watched the water ripple under the fountain. I had Seger on my mp3 and turned it up. I looked up across the lake; the sunlight was slipping away and just a bit shined down on the highest part of the church steeple that sat on the hill. It was funny how Seger and a church steeple can take me miles away and back in time.
Its a hot humid summer southern evening and yet when I close my eyes then open them I can smell a woody autumn Illinois breeze, feel my soft foriegner concert t-shirt on my back , and see an old church steeple surrounded by orange and gold leafed trees. I drift back for just a little bit into that time when I had dreams I thought would come true.
They were simple, sweet, innocent and delisciously selfish. I was going to be an African bush pilot. i was also going to Australia to pilot private flights to the bush and travel all over Europe, photographing and writing. MMMM, so yummy. Thanks for letting me share.
