A forgiving program
Posted On 02/25/2007 22:14:23 by Jana5623
Yesterday, I went to a meeting where a guy who had been sober for awile had "fallen off the banwagon" so to speak, and had been really embarassed to come back and say that he had "slipped".  They say that relapse is part of rehab, and I used that phrase a little too much in my life.  I would pick up a drink and think, well this is just part of the experience, so why not? Anyways, when I decided for the second time to get sober, I did not want to get back into the program.  When prodded by my mother as to the reason why, I told her that I couldn't go back there and face all of those people who had given me such love and support just to disapoint them by saying I went back to the bottle.  She then told me, and this has stuck with me ever since, "don't you think that all of those people have been there before...that they have messed up just like you have?  I see you struggling and I know that this program is good for you.  They will welcome you back."  I thank God for giving me such a loving accepting and forgiving program.  Thanks, God!
