A New Earth-Chapter 10
At 60, I guess I’m approaching old age, not something our current society cherishes. Yet in many societies, and societies past, the older are honored. Why? With age, for many, comes the ability to get deeper in the meaning of life, the ability to “be”, and “be” conscious. At mid-life I began a journey, at 60; this book brought a new level of consciousness to my spiritual inventory!
It was interesting to see the role of “older” people touched on in Chapter 10, and to learn that Eckhart is also 60. It was encouraging to here him state that living an “awakened” life with a strong spiritual awakening and conscious contact will slow the aging process. I look in the mirror, the outside may look sixty, the inside and energy level feels at worst like 45! In my coaching career, age and my journey should be an asset in a world that is beginning to awaken. Any “young” people out there should read what Tolle has to say about us, your elders!!
In advance I apologize for a disjointed narrative on Chapter 10. I hope that for those that read the blog, they understand some of my perspectives, for others interested in creating an awakened New Earth, I hope you’ll buy the book and read. I understand COSTCO has it at $8!!
Chapter 10 begins with an explanation of a universe that is expanded and contracting, and takes that to the individual, our hearts and breathing reflect the bigger picture, we are all part of the big picture, and that I believe. For this blog I am going to use the word god, not in a religious context, but a spiritual one and it will stand for higher power, the source, divine spirit and any other concept one may have, for I believe there is only one god. And that god is within all of us and all around us,
We each have an outer purpose to our lives, it is the outer journey. We also have an inner purpose, to be conscious in the moment and through living this inner purpose, we can transform the world. I coach in an area that is an opportunity we all have, the transformation to a place where conscious contact and living in the moment occurs. Some will find ANE enough, others who want to be there will require a guide/coach.
The world has truths that the mind doesn’t easily comprehend. If we consider the sunrise and sunset occurs daily and is an “absolute truth”, we forget that from outer space, looking at earth, we would not experience sunrise and sunset. So the truth is relative. And so are many things in life.
Look at your life and the lives of those you love. A statement on page 284 says it all for me: “the more spiritually ignorant you are, the more you suffer”. Life is a journey better lived and more happily lived with a strong spiritual component, and struggles and they will and do happen, will be more easily dealt with. It would seem as we get closer to the end of our time on earth, the more a flowering of consciousness is likely to occur. I have found this to be true.
The concept of “intelligent stupidity” is a term that intrigued me. Human intelligence is such a divine tool when properly used (the learning of the power of the atom), but when ego takes over, stupidity replaces intelligence-so lets harness this and make a bomb to kill those who don’t agree with us. Scary stuff, and truly ego driven.
Used properly, we have the god given intelligence, if we have a conscious contact with god, to make a real change in the world we know today, a very positive change. Conscious contact is the key to bringing peace, hope, serenity and harmony to our life.
The human brain is a wondrous and unique machine, and through consciousness, can be used to create A New Earth!
The THREE MODALITIES OF AWAKENED DOING are a fascinating concept. If you are in a state of “awakened consciousness”, you are either in a mode of acceptance of what is, you are enjoying the moment or you are enthused in the moment. You can cycle through these modalities over one situation. If you find yourself outside of these modalities, then ego is at work and that must be recognized. A couple of really brilliant thoughts . Joy and happiness come from within; they do not come from what you do. The world cannot bring you joy. And why are so many people “waiting to start living? ‘Waiting for what? A heightened “conscious contact with a god of your understanding” will dramatically increase the time you spend in the THREE MODALITIES.
So to create A New World, we need people to awaken, and to awaken to their life’s purpose. Set goals and visions that are realistic, they will generate enthusiasm. Make your goals dynamic and let god work within and through you in making your goals the reality on the outside that you have experienced on the inside.
There are many who won’t get it. Tolle labels them “Frequency Holders” and as the world slowly awakens, these people have their place.
There was much material in Chapter 10, and some great thoughts.
For me, distilling to the simple:.
I believe we live in a world that requires change. Left to current situations (warming, war, nuclear proliferation, extremist religions that have to be right, famine, and much more) the trend is not a good one.
We need more people to awaken, to live with ego in check, to live in a love the moment, to not have to be right, but just to be. The truth of the Serenity Prayer remains as it always has the truth. We are responsible only for our self and that person being the best they can be. We need to comprehend our life’s purpose, know who we are and awaken to the fact that there is one source for all, and I chose to call that source god. If we awaken to the presence of god, over the long haul, things will get progressively better!
Sorry for the ramble. The conclusion is a simple truth I awoke to many years ago and it began a journey. A New Earth was a meaningful part of the journey!
