A Day of Growth!
Posted On 05/06/2008 08:02:45 by KeithB

Yesterday was a very interesting day, following a great weekend!

I spent time first thing yesterday with a fellow coach, a lady I admire and who has a very interesting background. She has had very senior experience in the steel industry, and has had the good fortune of telephone coaching people globally. And made a huge difference in the life of others.

All of a sudden, business has slowed for her and for whatever reason; she has been slack on “marketing” externally. She refers to it as a dip, in a cycle of some type of dips she has just read about. I see it as a “down” period, something we all hit in the normal course of life no matter what our journey and I could easily relate to her.

I think at times we all look at an easier s, softer way to have things happen. In the business I’m in, it can become easy to sit and wait for the phone to ringing, and look for the miracle that has become the internet and “social” web based marketing and networking to make it happen.

After our chat, and upon reflection, a truth again got hammered home.

To play in the game, you’ve got to be real and physically get in the game! Virtual is nice, face to face or at a minimum voice to voice has to happen. And another reminder to me, if you want help in getting contacts to grow business, then you’ve got to ask people directly that you know for referrals.

So in helping a friend/coach, it was a great reminder to me. In a business that we work with others to set and achieve goals, we have to do the same things for ourselves that we expect others to do!

Following that, I had a rare treat, a special moment.

A man I have the pleasure of working with took me out to play golf. It was a beautiful spring day, and as luck would have it, we were able to get out on his magnificent course with no one ahead of us or directly behind us.

What a wonderful place and setting to have a meaningful discussion about a higher power and the role of spirituality in leading a sane and sober life. We actually had a chance to stop, look around, feel and hear what was around us and in us. Feel gratitude for the privilege of being together in such a wonderful spot at a time when the transformation and renewal of nature was all around us.

I can only speak for me, but that time was very special and my spiritual battery got a huge boost. While things in my life, as I go through my own transition, are not perfect, we seem to get what we need when we need it, and some things happen at exactly the right time. I must stay out of my own way!

Funny thing, when I got back to the office after golf, there was an email from another coaching colleague. She has a close relative that is struggling with addictions, and has asked me if I would work with this person! This is another in a series of positive small coincidences that have happened lately, and for these, I am grateful.

Monday was a wonderful day, a good day on the journey! Today is a day that I spend on school, study and personal development. I look forward to the day and will grow!
