Ben,
I hope this help to lift your spirits.

Light the Darkness

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----

Light the darkness

Find some way to be thankful for your troubles. For it is a great way to start moving beyond them.

Gratitude is always a powerful place to begin. Find something for which to be thankful, and you'll discover a valuable way to move positively ahead.

Being resourceful does not mean that you have more resources than anyone else. Being resourceful means that you're able to see and to make full use of the resources available to you.

That's especially important when obstacles, troubles, frustrations and tragedies threaten to overwhelm you. Look at those troubles not with dismay, but with gratitude for the value that you know is there.

Yes, it may seem strange to be thankful for your difficulties. Yet it certainly beats the alternative, which is to let those difficulties get the best of you.

Have the courage and the insight to practice gratitude, even when things are at their darkest. And it will shine a positive, empowering light on even the most difficult situation.

Thanks for this... I'm saving this along with a couple of other inspirational diddys from Marston!

Like jd, I have trouble getting past the whole 'gotta do whatcha gotta do' mindset and realize that I can't do everything alone. One of these days I'll stop being so full of myself and hear that 'POP!' Until then, I need to let go and learn to be thankful...even with what I perceive as 'bad'.

so true for me.  i was in a funk for a few days and what pulled me out was gratitude and service.  gratitude:  i have so much to thankful for everyday and i know that.  now service:  ha!  i need to work on that.  i'm self reliant and believe everyone else should be too.  i need to work on the do it yourself attitude.  i cannot do this alone.

anyway, the two above pulled me out of my funk.

thanks ben.  something to store in my tool box.  have a great day.  )

Admittedly there are times when being "thankful" for "character building" events is d*mn hard. The sad fact for me is that I cannot afford the emotional expense of reactions to this type of occurance.

One of the things I use is the old adage - "It always could be worse". One can use the equally old response - "It just got worse", but in all seriousness I fix whatever small part I can and pray to God for direction on the rest. I usually end up either feeling better about what little I did or about not sloshing around in my drunken head about something I can't do any thing about.

The one thing I notice is that my connection to my Senior Partner is greatest when I ask for His Will to be done in those times. And coping with life comes easier...
