For most of my life I never "got" people. It felt that my book of relationship rules was incomeplete, 1/2 the pages where missing and the rest where written in Chinese. I was constantly getting hurt and disapointed, At the best of times I was just very confused. This was with everyone people in recovery and earth people.
It was not too long ago I remembered a very powerful lesson my father taught me "Actions speak louder then words" Today I gauge people by their action, by what they do and how they live their life. Words have become almost worthless to me unless backed up by action. This has given me the oppurtunity to have some incredible people in my life.
This action thing goes for me as well. I try not to put myself out there unless I can commit. If I agree to be a sponsor then I will be there for you. I don't take a job in A.A. unless I know without a doubt I am able to do it. The greatest amend is to change the behavior I earnestly try to let my actions speak for me. "I would rather see a sermon then hear one"
