I am 32yrs old, my husband is 37. His is a recovering alcoholic of over 10yrs. We have been married almost a year and a half; 12months of that he was in Iraq. However what I have recently learned is that he is a dry drunk. For the past 10+years he has changed his addictions from alcohol. I'm GLAD he isn't drinking but I want to support him in recovering completely! We are in counseling and our therapist is wonderful. She has suggested an inpatient program and personally (I know I'm not a professional) I don't think it is that severe! He wants to get help and find a more comfortable place in life.

Ok addictions:
his big one is GAMING... He is deep into some of it. I'm not sure if I am in denial as the therapist suggested but I'm just not sure.. So i'm doing my research and looking for others that have been through similar things and are willing to give me some insight to addictions!

Hello and welcome. This is an awesome site with lots of support and encouragement. I read what Johntate wrote on 1/30 and I have to agree with him. Your husband has to do this for himself. You can't do it for him. All you can do is love and support him. We are all here for each other. I hope you find this site as helpful as I have.

Just wanted to say Hi. Maybe you might want to consider AL-ANON. I know that Al-Anon has helped me in my relationship with a fellow recovering alcoholic.
