After bouncing in and out of AA for nearly 2 decades, I finally got a sponsor who took me through the steps as they are laid out in the Big Book. I had recovery once, lived the promises, and starting sponsoring other guys. I got to a point where I thought I was spiritually fit enough to stop taking my meds for my bipolar. Big mistake... I slowly went downhill, my ego took over and I stopped making amends, and eventually went back out for another 8 years. I am BACK, I am now living the promises, and will be celebrating 1 year on Dec. 12th. I am once again sponsoring guys, living the promises, and AM NOT BALKING AT THE 9 STEP! I've been knocking on doors and trying to clean up the wreckage of my past. I practice steps 10, 11, and 12 daily, and life is good. I learned alot from going back out, one being I need to maintain my mental health FIRST, or there will be no recovery. Also, I have to continue this process on a daily basis, no balking. I came in at 18 with the YET'S, that *^%$ never happened to me, I don't relate. After years of hospitals, jails, prisons, broken families, and the rest of the things alcohol will take, happened. I now have GOD in my life and life is great!! No, I'm not religious, I just believe in what those first 100 people believed, that GOD is the solution to all my problems. I believe the SOLUTION is GOD, a sponsor, the 12 steps, fellowship, service work, and PASSING IT ON.
