I started using drugs at age 14. Back then I took pain pills like they were going out of style. I managed to make it all the way through high school and some college (PSEO college while I was in high school) with my addiction. Shortly after graduation I dropped out of college and let my addiction completely take over my life. It wasn't long before the pills didn't work anymore and I moved up to heroin. It was over at that point. I did whatever I had to do to get high. That went on for a couple of years before I finally realized I did not want to live like that anymore. I was sick of being sick, sick of the chase, and sick of my life in general. I moved back in with my dad and entered a rehab program after some hesitation. Now I am going to group therapy daily and attending NA and AA meetings at night. I am almost completely done with my suboxone treatment and it has been almost a month since I have used. It is a struggle everyday but I love being sober.Although I am only 19 years old, I feel that I have lived well beyond my years and I am grateful for the lessons that I have learned throughout my life.
