Classic Rock-n-Roll, a little heavy metal, some of the newer stuff, in small doses. My favorite band is Pink Floyd ... lots of feelings in there and have been able to relate to sooo much since getting sober ... try it!

Not much into sitting in the dark and watching someone else's fantasies, however there have been a few good movies that I have watched ... mostly with big guns, explosions and criminals losing to Clint Eastwood, Chuck Norris or Charles Bronson ... just none lately!

The Big Book, The Bible, NA's Basic Text ... there are a few others that would fill this entire section, and then some, but these are the most important ones to me, today! I refer to them as MY OWNER'S MANUALS!

My biggest hobby is tearing stuff apart, see how it works and putting it back together and make it work again. Fixing stuff, making stuff from something else ... just being inventive and imaginative.
Walking in the woods ... there's lots of that 'round here ... talking with good friends and family.

Name is Jim ... AKA 'Dusty' ... and a few others from the addiction days that I won't list here!... 54 with a few 24 hours of sobriety. Made it into the rooms of AA through the issue of a couple 'creative driving awards', a few 'kicks' in the backside from my desserted Higher Power and a few words from several people that love me ... THANK GOD! The love of life and living has changed my entire way of thinking. Was born around the Big City and found the need for a change of location. Found a bit of paradise in Blue Ridge Mountains of Western Maryland a few years ago. YES, it was a geographical in the beginning, but what a wonderful place to enjoy sobriety and LIFE! Have a wonderful family and a few REAL friends and have found that the true meaning of happiness isn't in a bag, bottle or some other 'container'.

I LOVE MY WIFE AND FAMILY ... don't know why they hung around with me and for me, but I am forever grateful that they did! I don't deserve them ...
There are so many things that I have found that I like and enjoy in life today, but here are a few of the most important of the enjoyable ... family, friends, camping, hunting, fishing, walking, NASCAR, NFL - especially the RAVENS, drag racing ... just living life!

Fake people, Authority figures that MUST remind everyone that they ARE in charge, ALL THE TIME!, 'Holier-Than-Thou' individuals, self-centered politicians, mosquitoes, flies, TAXES, INFLATION, POVERTY, WAR, THE PRICE OF FUEL and IGNORANCE ... just to name a few!

I love it here, too. I've always loved this area, but never had the 'guts' to move. When the old neighborhood started to go down hill as rapid as it did, it was time to move. With having 2 teenaged daughters and all the things that were materializing down there and the 'shape' that I was in at the time, I would still be in jail if I'd stayed. At the time, it was a geographical for me ... thank God! After moving up here, I had the privilege of making it to the rooms and love of AA. After that awakening, I have found a new life and, with that, a new world to explore. Hope that you have a great weekend ... I've got a load of meetings for the rest of the week ... and lots of stuff to deal with 'round here.

As Always,
Jim
